Valley of Peace

Wadi-us-Salaam is a large cemetery located in the holy city of Najaf, Iraq. It is considered one of the most sacred burial grounds in the world for Shia Muslims, as it is believed that the cemetery contains the tombs of many prophets, Imams, and other important figures in Shia Islam.

The cemetery covers an area of approximately 1,485 acres and is estimated to contain more than 5 million graves. Many Shia Muslims from all over the world choose to be buried in Wadi-us-Salaam, as it is believed to be a place of spiritual purification and blessings.

Together with a war journalist, I had the opportunity to visit and document this place. All relatives were asked for consent beforehand.
