A months-long investigation uncovered the story of Paula L. As a teenager, she was allegedly drugged and repeatedly abused by a former Swiss politician. But instead of getting support and justice, she was failed by the system: following local cover-up attempts, she was nearly deported.
By reviewing official records and piecing the timeline together, the investigation exposed institutional failure and political abuse of power. Most of all, the story was driven by the courage of Paula L. and her mother, who chose to show their faces and break the silence.
The reporting gained widespread national and international attention, sparked a major political debate on victim protection, and ultimately helped stop the deportation.
